THECHOIRCHANNEL: Sefofane Gospel Choir

Much like every group we feature on our YouTube Channel and those that will be featured on our TV service, Sefofane Gospel Choir is one such group which has an amazing history. It should be noted that Ntate Rev. Moleke has worked hard to build a formidable group which is now known by most fans of POSTOLA. We bring you a song which is perfectly recorded and a old favorite among "ditsebetso tsa moya".
Please share your thoughts on this group and the quality of their rendition.

THECHOIRCHANNEL: Seun & The Holy Rock

Seun & The Holy Rock has an incredible history which we believe has to be shared in a special way, to allow people to appreciate the powerful history of this amazing group pioneered by Seun Nkosi.  When we think of the legend Phoka, we cant help but acknowledge the presence of Seun. He has kept the sound alive for years since the passing of one of the legendary singers of POSTOLA. We find the history of how Sean & The Holy Rock came about as a testimony of perseverance. But we will leave that Documentary for TheChoirChannel debut where you will get these stories more told in a professional manner. For now enjoy...

Please share your thoughts on this group and the quality of their rendition.

THECHOIRCHANNEL: VGA MASS CHOIR

We have a new choir on our playlist named VGA Mass Choir. Ntate J Baloyi, the Rabbi, has written a great article about their music. It's a must read for fans and those who will love the sound. We have for you a song which is well recorded and sung. You are guaranteed to fall in love, besides TheChoirChannel only works with the very best choirs. The song is titled: "O Seke Oa Nteleka", from the popular hymn "Sefapano Ke Boha". We trust you will enjoy it as much as we have.
The great thing about this song is that a majority of people know the melody but VGA's arrangement is excellent. Its not a bore and it has a timeless effect to it. VGA MASS CHOIR is perhaps the best group from Vaal, but we are having more and more group contact us with requests to be featured and work with us. Which we welcome by the way and we would like you share you thoughts on this group.

INSIDEPOSTOLA: MAJALEFA (THE OTHER ONE) – I MISS THE MUSIC!

There once was a lady, light skinned and vocally talent. The very first lady I actually thought could beat Mme Lucky from Jerusalema E Ncha, vocally. She was a lead singer of Majalefa A Morena and she become part “MAJALEFA” - the other group which decided to only use one word and the whole, as a result of choir disputes.  Confusing…yes I know!

Having said that, the lady was incredible and whoever discovered her is a genius. I first heard her sing “MOEMEDI” on Gospel Gold. The intro alone was celestially inspired. As she went…“Kena….le moemedi…momomomomo…..” the choir took up their vocal positions and it was on, like wild fire. Listening to these old ladies and gentlemen sing what was known to be simple song, but they managed to turn it into a hit.

I called my record store immediately and the had three copies of the cassettes and I reserved mine. By Monday morning at 10am, I was playing the cassette like a crazy person on full blast.

SIDE ONE: Joko Ea Hao, Ke Tshaba Moya, Mmele Pelo Le Moya, Ho Fedile, Emnqamlezweni,

SIDE TWO: ,Moemedi Moya, Akahlulwa Lutho Ujeso, Lona Ba Ratang, Sefapano, Rea U Boka.

For the very first time the brand Majalefa the brand has a sound which become a national hit. You could hear the song played by taxi drivers and on always on Sunday radio.

Songs like Akahlulwa, Ke Tshaba Moya, Ho Fedile become a stable for any Acapella group. It was then upon close inspection and analysis of the music that I learned the truth about the group being a wrong version. However at the time their music was national and everyone loved MAJALEFA. This talented lead vocal lady was the anchor talent for the entire album singing 6 six songs on the album. She was truly talented, especially when you hear her vocal abilities on “Ke Tshaba Moya”.

C’mon man apostolic music is a wonder of wonders.

Unfortunately… when I tracked the group down, I was told she’s gone to become a sangoma. SHOCK!

In that note. Till next time!
